Thales to equip Ukraine military with second air defence system

Under the aegis of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has signed a contract for a second air defence system from Thales.

The ControlMaster 200 (CM200) is designed to simultaneously detect and track low to high-altitude targets in all types of environments. It provides air defence weapon coordination for Very Short Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) up to Extended Short Range Air Defence (E-SHORAD).

The integrated Ground Master 200 radar tracks targets and keeps them locked for longer to increase situational awareness. The ControlView command and control system evaluates the threat, while allocating the appropriate firing units for air target engagement through each weapon terminal.

Thales provided Ukraine’s first CM200 in 2023.
