Terra Drone and Toshiba sign MoU to expand UTM and C-UAS businesses

Japan’s Terra Drone Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation to expand their uncrewed traffic management (UTM) and counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) businesses.

Terra Drone has developed Terra UTM, which is designed to accurately determine the location of drones under its supervision. The company has made strategic investments in Unifly NV and Aloft Technologies Inc.

Meanwhile, Toshiba’s Infrastructure Systems & Solutions unit specialises in providing C-UAS solutions that integrate various sensors and response measures to detect and respond to suspicious drone activities.

Terra Drone will foster technical collaboration between its Terra UTM and Toshiba’s C-UAS solutions. Efforts will include addressing the social integration of drones, for example in urban logistics, and preventing incidents and accidents arising from collision risks and unauthorised drone incursions.
