PANSA updates DroneTower app to include geozones

The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) has released the latest version of its DroneTower app.

PANSA launched the app earlier this month, making it the official IT system for reporting the intention to fly a drone in Poland. The application is fully integrated with PANSA’s uncrewed traffic management (UTM) system and provides complex non-verbal communication as well as emergency situations management.

In compliance with European and Polish regulations, the latest update includes data about geozones, a new module of the PansaUTM system, which can be used to apply for geographical zones for authorised entities.

PANSA also reports that the possibility of reporting flights via the checkin.pansa.pl web application is maintained. In the coming days, both systems will operate in parallel, which means that users will be able to choose which system they will use when reporting their check-in. PANSA recommends using the DroneTower app because the check-in.pansa web application does not have two-way communication between the UAV pilot and the Air Traffic Controller, which means that reporting the intention to fly to the CTR via it requires an additional telephone call to the tower. This is due to the fact that the systems work independently, so flights reported via checkin.pansa.pl are not automatically visible in the DroneTower application and vice versa.
