Arctic Unmanned has announced the establishment of a designated restricted area in Kangerlussuaq, which allows the company to provide a dedicated drone testing facility.
Company founder, Mads Petersen, said in a LinkedIn post that the restricted area will be activated via a NOTAM, issued 24 hours in advance, to support drone operations from the surface up to 2300 feet above ground level (AGL). Currently, operations are limited to visual line of sight (VLOS) for drones weighing up to 25kg maximum takeoff weight (MTOW).
βFor operations involving drones heavier than 25kg and beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), a JARUS SORA application is required, in addition to our existing permissions for drone flights in Greenland,β Petersen added.
