Speedbird Aero has participated in tests with the goal of becoming a future unmanned traffic management (UTM) service provider in Brazil, as designated by the Força Aérea Brasileira – FAB.
In a Linkedin post the company reported that on April 3 and 4 it performed tracking tests on aircraft to avoid conflicts in the airspace and secure flight safety. Also present at the test event were Brazil’s Department of Airspace Control (DECEA) and the Brazilian Airspace Control Institute. Several software engineers, programmers and developers worked on implementing the software to conduct tracking tests and deconflict the airspace.
“While DECEA evaluates the issue of service providers, it also evaluates how flight information will be integrated into the ATM system, already used by manned aviation. During the tests, Speedbird’s aircraft were displayed on both the FAB and the DECEA systems simultaneously, as well as on radar screens, where air traffic controllers monitored the airspace,” said the company.
