India installs new C-UAS systems along northern border

Numerous regional media sources report that the Indian Army has installed seven new drone detection and interdiction systems for deployment along the country’s northern border with China.

Produced by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Bharat Electronics, the systems provide an integrated capability to detect low radar cross-section unmanned aerial systems and enable their destruction through both soft and hard kills.

The reports add that DRDO is working on additional systems with higher power levels to counter drone swarms.

India and China are separated by the Line of Actual Control, which differs from the borders claimed by each country. Tensions resurfaced this month when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Arunachal Pradesh and inaugurated a tunnel project to enhance connectivity to the strategic Tawang region.
