DJI updates geospatial zone system, aligns with EASA and national aviation regulations

DJI is updating its Geospatial Environment Online (GEO) system to include UAS geographical zone data from national aviation authorities. The development is in line with European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations and offers drone pilots more flexibility.

Initial update regions include: Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, France, Lithuania, Switzerland, and the UK. The coverage is due to expand to include other EASA member states.
The updates apply to most consumer, enterprise, and agricultural drone models and can be uploaded by refreshing the DJI app.

DJI first adopted the GEO system in 2013 to help drone operators avoid flying in controlled airspace or near sensitive sites. This update is part of DJI’s commitment to safety and regulatory compliance as European drone laws now require all drone makers to let users download and show geographical zone data for drones from the national aviation authorities of countries in the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Operators must make sure that they have the most recent geographical data from these countries before flying drone or risk non-compliance.
With these updates, DJI aims to continue to support the evolving global drone regulations and operator responsibilities.
