EASA publishes means of compliance for Light-UAS 2510 applicable to UAS operated in SAIL IV

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published the means of compliance with Light-UAS 2510, applicable to uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) operated in SAIL IV. The means of compliance introduces a simplified approach to system safety proportionate to the risk of the operations and the complexity of the design. As specified in Light-UAS.2500(a), it is intended as a general requirement, that should be applied to any equipment or system.

EASA welcomed the engagement of the industry that contributed with many useful comments on such a fundamental topic for enabling higher risk operations in Europe. The final version is reported to include several clarifications that were deemed necessary following the consultation.
